FDA Recalls Soup to Nuts

If you are wondering if stuff you put in your mouth from soup to nuts will kill you, it's good to wonder. I get sometimes two and three FDA recall and voluntary recall notices a day about food, vitamins, medication and sometimes implants. So a couple of times a week, we will post those notices here.

Remember the 'Peanut Panic' followed by the 'Pistachio Problem"? On July 31, the FDA sent out an announcement that United Food Group, Inc issued a July 29 voluntary recall of several products that were distributed nationwide including Victoria Inn Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Chicken, Cream of Broccoli and Baked Potato with Bacon soups as well as Perfect Servings French Vanilla Cappuccino and Double Dutch Chocolate with Marshmallow mixes. The reason was salmonella in non-fat dry milk manufactured by Plainview Milk Products Co-operative and used by a number of food manufacturers. Another recall by Fireside Coffee's Chai Tea because of the same non-fat dry milk occurred on July 27th.

Maybe we should start our own back yard "survival gardens."  How about swapping tomatos for potatoes with our green thumb neighbors? Any good Farmers' Markets in your neck of the woods?

Take a few minutes and let people know what you're planting in the field, your yard or your patio pots and tell us what region or part of the country you live in.  If you are not planting, how are you making sure the things you put in your mouth are safe?
