Why You Need To Support Glenn Beck Advertisers & Boycott These Companies, Brands

A number of major brands have requested that their advertising NOT appear on the Fox News Glenn Beck program that airs from 5:00 - 6:00 PM EST and 2:00 - 3:00 on the West Coast. It all stems from a comment Beck made on "Fox & Friends," the morning show. Glenn was chatting with the hosts and during the segment, commented about the President and mentioned that he thought Obama was a racist. (Scroll down to view the Fox & Friends segment.)

But you should listen to the entire segment. I'm not suggesting I would say the same thing, I wouldn't. Besides, whatever anyone says about anything is no longer an opinion to be contradicted with another opinion. Debate is dead. Instead, opinions are unacceptable and require extreme action if you don't agree with them — if you get my drift. That does cause us all to curb our speech a little, and that's the scary part. I believe Glenn was expressing what he was thinking at the moment. I saw that segment live and arched my eyebrows a hair, not because I agreed, but because I have learned that there is always someone or some group out there looking for any thing they can use to further their own cause at the expense of others.

What you should know is what's behind this sponsor desertion of a show with one of the largest audiences on cable. It's complicated. There is ColorOfChange.org stating that they are "Changing the color of democracy." What does that mean? I thought democracy was for all colors. This group states that they are strengthening black America's political power using the Internet to keep their members informed. Does any of this sound a little bit racist? If you drill down on their web site or search the Internet, it doesn't take long to discover how this group came to be and who the players are.

The Executive Director is James Rucker, formerly affiliated with, you guessed it, MoveOn.org where he served as Director of Grass Roots Mobilization. Drill down even farther and you will discover that the original co-found was Van Jones, the self-professed communist who is now Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House and commonly referred to as the green czar. My, my. the linkage gets worser and worser!

The along comes Donny Deutsch, occasional host on CNBC and MSNBC. Remember him? He was the advertising mogel who judged the advertising assignments of the apprentice teams competing on Donald Trump's "Apprentice."

In a New York Times article published August 13, Deutsch is quoted as saying, “We have TV today that’s very polarizing and controversial.” Last month, Deutsch listed some of Beck's sponsors or advertisers and encouraged viewers to write to the chief executives of those companies because he said, corporate decisions about where to allot ad dollars were the ultimate check and balance system.

So ColorOfChange says they gathered a petition with 100,000 members that persuaded advertisers to request that their commercials no longer appear on the Glenn Beck program. WHO ARE THESE "SHEEPLE" companies?

Lawyers.com, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, Men’s Wearhouse, State Farm, Sargento, SC Johnson,Radio Shack, ConAgra, Geico, Procter & Gamble, Progressive and Sanofi-Aventis. If you know of any more, let me know. They folded like tents with a bear jumping on them.

The problem is, these lame-brained, weak-kneed companies forgot about the rest of us with boycott power — the hundreds of thousands of grass rooters who have been buying their products (and their stocks) for years and sometimes generations. Time to hit 'em where it hurts. It's not always easy to switch brands that have become a habit, but freedom is more important. So we will find new insurance carriers, places to buy electronics and ask our physicians if there is another drug we can take.

But let's take this a bit further. Donny Deutsch — turn about is fair play. We know what companies and brands you represent and we're adding you to our boycott list. Let's see now, There's IKEA with off shore owners apparently in Belgium and the Netherlands and several foundations and off shore companies registered in the Caribbean. Remember the Ikea scandal? Its founder, Ingvar Kamprad who acknowledged his errors and repudiated his racist and fascist ideas and then shed a tear on Swedish television?

Let's not forget Donny's client, NOVARTIS, a multi-national company known for, among other drugs, RITALIN often prescribed for children with ADD (attention deficit disorder) to increase focus and attention while it suppresses appetites, causes sleeplessness and euphoria.

Other clients of Deutsch include Johnson & Johnson, (I'm sorry to say) and  Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets. This one is interesting. It is an English company owned by Tesco and billionaire, Warren Buffet is about the top investor in Tesco.  Maybe you should try to give him a call at his Berkshire-Hathaway company in Omaha at 402-346-1400. He may not even know this is going on. He might want to change his agency!

Deutsch also handles a number of other companies. Click here for a complete list. And then click on "Clients." AND THEN BOYCOTT THESE BRANDS. I know. Some of them have been mainstays on your shopping lists for decades. But hey! Freedom of speech is more important and that's what this is about.

So here are some companies and brands you should support — names that are appearing on Glenn Beck programs and his web site, among others — General Electric, Farmers Insurance, Office Depot, Red Lobster, Travelocity, U.S. Postal Service, Walmart, Wyeth,  Dish Network, Goldline, Nestle (Gerber), GoToMyPc and LegalZoom.com.

Try a little brand switching. Who knows? You might even save some money. The important thing is to support Glenn Beck and advertisers that appear on his show. Don't let special interests curb free speech. Make them join an honest debate.
