Barney Frank Town Hall Meet; A Wake-up For Constituents

Barney Frank's August 18 town hall meeting should be a wake-up call for his constituents. It is obvious that Mr. Frank is so puffed with power that he is not listening to people and doesn't intend to. His answer to one question that he will vote for what he thinks is the best policy should have tipped off voters who have elected him. This representative is not interested in representing the people in his district, he is representing government.

Take a look at two Barney Frank video clips included below. The first one from July 27 makes it clear he will push for a single payer plan eliminating private insurance. The second clip is from his town hall meeting August 18 and says a lot about his intention to vote for what he thinks is best. If you live in Massachusetts you should start looking for someone who can and will represent you.

Whether you are in favor of a massive government run health care plan or not, there is a bigger issue here. Whether you are part of the 'gimme-everything-free-crowd' or those who want to preserve opportunity and freedom, you need to ask yourselves, "Are the people we elect representing us or themselves?" This government is supposed to be of, for and by the people seems to have turned into one big private club for the few we have sent to Washington. Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, you need to think about the words of Thomas Jefferson, "A government that is big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have." Then of course, the citizens lack the power to restore freedom.

By the way, if you are among those who think a public option and eventually a single payer plan will be free to individuals, it won't be. Those receiving Medicare have a nifty amount taken out of their social security checks each month. Those in Congress who want everyone to be on Medicare are looking forward to taking a healthy sum out of your payroll checks. Betcha!

So be careful what you ask for. What you get may be something entirely different!
