Carter Is Stuck In The Old South
Does anyone really listen to this old man anymore? That "conversation" at the Carter Center yesterday was beneath a former President when he said Joe Wilson's shout was an act based on racism and rooted in fears of a black president. Carter is stuck somewhere in the 40s or 50s and the rest of us have gone past that period in America's history. I should say a lot of us have, not all of us.
Some are trying to revive race and if they aren't careful, they will! When liberals don't have an argument for the specifics of an issue, they play any game they can to change the focus in an effort to get their way. In other words — they will lie and cheat if necessary. In the case of Obama care, its the race card.
And that's just "peanuts" when it comes to what Harry Reid wants to do. Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, told the press yesterday, that Democrats will use the so-called budget reconciliation process to pass health care reform without Republicans if they can't get 60 votes. Is that cheating, or what? — a stance from another old man who's time has passed.
What's just as bad as using race in his conversation, was Carter's comparison of grass roots demonstrators, and they were black and white, young and old, rich and poor — the folks that make this country perk, to Nazi leaders. Is he "nuts"?
When Wilson shouted "You lie" during Obama's speech to Congress, Wilson was just vocalizing what a lot of people in the joint session and those watching on television were no doubt thinking. We have read the proposed bills. We are paying attention now. You can't fool us any more.
Wilson's outburst had nothing to do with race. Its about where this administration and the "progressive" Congress are taking us — into the shackles of massive government, a deficit that is burying us, taxes that will take away life as we know it, the shifting of power from millions of citizens to a few in Washington, the loss of choice, and fraud and corruption that we never believed possible.
So, Mr. Carter — it's not that white people (I can't believe I'm using these terms!) believe an African-American should not be President. It is the fact that he is showing his true political colors and they are not in the best interest of our democracy.
